US weekly jobless claims fall less than expected

The number of Americans filing new applications for jobless benefits witnessed a more-than-projected jump in the week ended February 7, according to Labor Department data released Thursday, by less than the expected 9,000 drop.

What does this mean? That the US labor market regained momentum last week as temperatures gradually rose, following an increase in unemployment benefits at the end of January in the wake of a winter storm that hampered economic activity.
