Cryptocurrencies resumed their decline in Thursday trading after Bitcoin approached the $70,000 level, amid uncertainty over US trade policy and as markets awaited the outcome of talks between Washington and Tehran.

Bitcoin fell 1.87% to $67,921 as of 07:51 a.m. Mecca time, after earlier jumping to $69,987.

Ethereum, the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency by market value, dropped about 0.9% to $2,052. XRP declined 2.82% to $1.4340, while Dogecoin slid 5.47% to $0.0995.

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said the president may sign an order to raise new tariffs to 15% instead of the current 10% where appropriate
