The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's flag
Saudi Arabia condemned in the strongest terms what it called a brazen Iranian attack targeting the US Embassy building in Riyadh.
The Kingdom said the repeat of what it described as a cowardly and unjustified assault flagrantly violates international norms and laws, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions and the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which grant immunity to diplomatic premises and staff even during armed conflict.
Riyadh warned that the recurrence of such conduct, despite what it said was Tehran’s awareness that the Kingdom would not allow its airspace or territory to be used to target Iran, would drive the region toward further escalation.
The Kingdom reiterated its full right to take all necessary measures to protect its security, territory, citizens, residents and vital interests, including the option to respond to the aggression.
