The IRGC said it had taken full control of the Strait of Hormuz
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Wednesday it had taken full control of the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any vessel attempting to transit the waterway would risk missile or drone attack, AFP reported.
Mohammad Akbarzadeh, a senior naval commander in the IRGC, said in a statement that the strategic strait was now under the complete control of Iran’s naval forces.
In one of Washington’s boldest moves yet to contain surging energy prices triggered by the war, President Donald Trump said on Tuesday the US Navy could begin escorting oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz if necessary.
