Operating revenue index rises by 2.7% in December 2025

The operating revenue Index for short-term businesses in Saudi Arabia recorded a 2.7% year-on-year (YoY) increase in December 2025.

 

The index rose to 108.6 points in December (base year 2023), compared with 105.7 points in December 2024, according to the short-term business statistics bulletin recently issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

 

The authority stated that the bulletin aims to measure the short-term performance of various economic sectors through monthly indicators tracking developments and growth rates for each activity, covering all economic activities within business sector establishments across the Kingdom.

The bulletin stated that the increase was mainly driven by growth in several economic activities, mainly the manufacturing activity (+0.3%), wholesale and retail trade and vehicle repair (+9.9%), and construction (+8.1%).

 

Arts, entertainment, and recreation recorded the highest annual growth rate at 17.6%, followed by financial and insurance activities at 14.8%, while information and communication activity grew 11.6%.

 

In contrast, mining and quarrying activity, which accounts for 21.8% of the index weight, declined 9.9% YoY, limiting the pace of overall growth.

The employee compensation index in the short-term business statistics jumped 13.5% YoY, supported by an 18.8% increase in manufacturing, 6% growth in construction, and a 10.3% rise in wholesale and retail trade and vehicle repair.
