Iran designates 2 shipping lanes for transit via Hormuz

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy published a map on Thursday outlining specific designated lanes for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, amid ongoing regional geopolitical tensions despite the reaching of a ceasefire truce.

In a statement accompanying the map, the naval forces said that given the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, vessels wishing to cross must adhere to maritime safety procedures due to the potential presence of naval mines.

According to the published map, vessels seeking to enter the Arabian Gulf must head north toward the waters near the Iranian mainland. The second lane is for exiting the Gulf, where ships will pass south of Larak Island.
