Cryptocurrencies declined in Monday trading as investors shunned risk following the failure of negotiations between Washington and Tehran to reach a peace agreement, threatening a fragile ceasefire reached last week.

Bitcoin fell 0.51% to $70,759 as of 11:30 a.m. Makkah time. Ethereum dropped about 0.81% to $2,184.4, while XRP slipped 0.93% to $1.3246.

Iran indicated last week that cryptocurrency payments should be included in any system to collect transit fees for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
