Operating revenue index rises 5.9% in February

Saudi Arabia’s operating revenue index for short-term businesses rose 5.9% year-on-year (YoY) to 110.8 points in February 2026, up from 104.6 a year earlier, according to data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

 

The bulletin aims to track the short-term performance of economic sectors through monthly indicators measuring activity-level trends and growth rates across business establishments in the Kingdom, the authority said.

The increase was driven by growth across most economic activities, notably wholesale and retail trade and vehicle repair, which rose 9.1%, and construction, up 5.1%, while manufacturing edged higher by 0.1%.

 

Information and communication recorded the highest annual growth at 19%, followed by arts, entertainment, and recreation at 17.5%, and transportation and storage at 17%. Financial and insurance activities rose 15.5%.

 

By contrast, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply — which accounts for 1.8% of the index — declined 13.7% YoY.

The employee compensation index rose 9.8% YoY, supported by a 9.9% increase in manufacturing, gains of more than 10% in wholesale and retail trade and vehicle repair, and a 7.6% rise in construction.
