Saudi Arabia mulls 'car-scrapping' plan to promote fuel efficiency

18/02/2015 Argaam
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is considering a car-scrapping project to promote the replacement of old vehicles with modern ones, said Naif Al-Humaidi, member of the transportation team at the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency (SCEE).

This scheme will also help getting rid of inefficient, high emissions vehicles from the road.

A team of experts is currently studying the idea with the finance ministry in order to facilitate appropriate procedures for the removal of old cars and the reduction of fuel consumption across the kingdom.
