Saudi Arabia remained the world’s largest crude oil producer in 2016, pumping 10.46 million barrels per day (bpd) on average, according to latest figures from the Joint Organizations Data Initiative (JODI).
Meanwhile, Russia’s output reached around 10.37 million bpd on average in 2016.
From 2004 to 2014, Russia was the world’s leading producing country.
The US was the third-largest producer, at 8.88 million bpd last year, according to official data.
