Rabigh Phase II project includes providing a variety of new petrochemical products to the region, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA) citing Takashi Shigemori vice president of market development at Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company’s (Petro Rabigh).
The company started building a phenol plant and an acetone plant, with the annual capacity of 275,000 metric tons and 160,000 metric tons, respectively, Shigemori said as he presented the company’s new products in a workshop at Dammam’s headquarters.
Rabigh II will offer new products that are used in fiber products, textiles and food wrapping, such as low-density polyethylene (LDPE), ethylene-vinyl acetate (LVA), thermoplastic olefin (TPO), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), nylon 6, acetone and phenol, p-xylene and benzene.
Rabigh II is an expansion project of the Petro Rabigh complex that was launched in 2009 to produce more than 1.3 million tons of petrochemical products per year.
