Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) signed on Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Russia's state-owned Rosoboronexport to manufacture high-grade military equipment in the Kingdom, according to a statement on the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The deal includes the transfer of technology to manufacture S-400 missile defense systems, Kornet-EM systems,  TOS-1A advanced multiple rocket launcher, AGS-30 automatic grenade launchers, and the Kalashnikov AK-103 assault rifle and its ammunition in Saudi Arabia.

The agreements are expected to play a pivotal role in the growth and development of the military systems industry in the Kingdom.

The deals were announced during King Salman’s visit to Russia, the first official visit to the country by a reigning Saudi monarch.
