U.S. energy companies added seven oil rigs in the week ending Sept. 14, bringing the total count to 867, General Electric Co.’s Baker Hughes energy services firm said in its closely followed report on Friday.
The number of gas rigs was maintained for the week at 186 gas rigs, the same as a year earlier.
So far this year, the total number of oil and gas rigs active in the United States has averaged 1,017. That keeps the total count for 2018 on track to be the highest since 2014.
