National Electricity Transmission Co. has finished producing the first batch of Saudi-made power transformers through the Saudi power transformers factory, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The plant produced nine 67-MVA transformers, which will be installed to support the high-voltage power network.
Manufacturing this type of transformers in the Kingdom represents an important step in promoting the national electrical industry, said Waleed Al-Saadi, vice president for engineering at the National Electricity Transmission Company.
The transformers have successfully passed the quality tests, which makes the plant eligible for the Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC), he added.
The National Electricity Transmission Co. is a subsidiary of SEC.
