GASTAT noted that the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel prices rose the most at 5.6% year-on-year (YoY). Food and beverage prices increased 1.6% over the same period, while prices for miscellaneous goods and services climbed 4.3% YoY.

In contrast, furnishings and household equipment prices fell 2% YoY, largely due to a 3.9% drop in furniture, carpets, and floor coverings prices. Clothing and footwear also registered a 0.4% annual drop, driven by a 1.3% decrease in ready-made clothing prices.
The transport sector recorded a decline of 0.3%, driven by a 1.6% drop in vehicle purchase prices.

The consumer price index (CPI) reflects changes in the prices paid by consumers for a fixed basket of goods and services, consisting of 490 items selected based on the 2018 Household Expenditure and Income Survey. The relevant prices are collected through field visits to points of sale.
On a monthly basis, inflation increased in Makkah, Taif, Tabuk, Hail and Sakaka.
However, it declined in Riyadh, Jaddah, Dammam, Madinah, Jazan, Al Baha, Arar and Najran.
Meanwhile, Al Hofuf and Buraidah recorded negative monthly inflation rates, while it was stable in Abha.
