Saudi Arabia ranked first for the road connectivity index, followed by USA and Spain according to the Global Competitiveness Report for 2019.

The report, which assesses the competitiveness landscape of 141 economies providing unique insight into the drivers of economic growth, said that the Kingdom climbed one position since the last edition.

"This outstanding ranking was driven by the Kingdom's support of the transport industry, in line with Saudi Vision 2030, as the Kingdom seeks to become a leading regional logistics hub," stated Transport Minister, Nabil  Al-Amoudi.

Saudi Arabia witnessed a jump by six places in the category of railroad density, by four places in quality of roads, by five places in efficiency of air transport services and by four places in efficiency of seaport services. Meanwhile, the Kingdom's ranking improved by 24 places in efficiency of train services.

Saudi Arabia has jumped three notches since last year to rank as one of the most competitive economies in the Arab region, according to the latest Global Competitiveness Report 2019 by the Geneva-based World Economic Forum (WEF).
