Makkah Region Development Authority (MRDA) said that infrastructure works at the Makkah Public Transport Project are 43% complete.

The ongoing works include stops, bridges, pedestrian crossings and central stations, the MRDA added in a tweet.

In September 2020, the MRDA said Phase 1 of the bus infrastructure project was 22% complete. The project consists of 275-kilometer 12 routes and 450 stops.

The public bus network in Makkah covers most of the city areas with 400 Germany-made buses for the first phase, including 240 standard buses and 160 articulated buses.
