CITC reveals Internet speeds, digital content access speed in Saudi Arabia

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) released its report on internet speeds and digital content access speed in Saudi Arabia (Meqyas) for Q3 2021.

 

Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily) came in the first place in terms of speed of access to Snapchat. Mobile Telecommunication Company Saudi Arabia (Zain KSA) topped in terms of speed of access to Twitter, while stc, Mobily and Zain Saudi recorded the best speed in access to Facebook and Instagram.

 

The report also showed that Zain KSA topped telecom service providers with quality of video streaming on the Internet via fiber-optics on YouTube, with a success rate of 99.96%, followed by Salam and Mobily.

 

In addition, Mobily came on top in terms of the speed of access to social media apps that are most used in the Kingdom, namely Webex, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet in Q3 2021.

 

“Through the publication of Meqyas report, CITC aims to increase competition between service providers as well as transparency in the sector by providing data and indicators to investors and parties interested in the sector’s performance in the Kingdom,” said the telecom regulator.
