Etihad Atheeb Telecommunication Co. (GO) announced that the license to use the 3.5GHz spectrum band frequency will be canceled if the company fails to fulfill its obligations.

The telco was informed in a letter issued by the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC).

Etihad Atheeb confirmed that it is working hard to fulfill its obligations. It submitted several alternatives to the CITC and coordination is underway with the telecom authority in this regard, the statement added.

The financial impact cannot be determined at present.

In January, Etihad Atheeb obtained the CITC approval to extend the commitment period to deploy the network for additional six months, Argaam reported. The telecom operator would have only until Q2 2022 to deploy the network as per the CITC license for the 3.5GHz spectrum band.
