Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) suspended work on its estimated SAR 6 billion Mall of Saudi project in Riyadh, MEED reported.

The project was part of the company's plan to invest SAR 14 billion in two malls in the Kingdom.

MAF declined to comment on the suspension of the project.

The group manages several malls in the Middle East, especially in the UAE, under the brand "City Center".

MAF was planning to start the construction works on the project at the end of 2021.

In June 2021, the group awarded a four-year contract to AECOM to provide consultancy services for the Mall of Saudi project.

MAF founder passed away in December 2021, and it appointed Ahmed Galal as CEO, to replace Alain Bejjani after eight years in the role.
