Oil prices rise, record first weekly gain since October

Oil prices held firm on Friday, but recorded the first weekly gain in eight weeks as dollar rose after slow drilling data in the US.

 

Brent crude for February delivery remained unchanged at $76.55 a barrel, posting a weekly rise of nearly 0.9%.

 

WTI futures for February delivery edged down 0.2%, or 13 cents, to $71.78 a barrel, recording a weekly gain of around 0.8%.

 

The dollar index rose 0.55% to 102.52 points at 11:07 pm KSA Time.
