Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining Co.'s (Yasref) crude refinery is currently operating at 75 percent capacity, producing as much 300,000 barels per day (bpd), Reuters reported, citing unnamed industry sources.
The facility's capacity was said to have been adjusted to meet market needs. The development may end up boosting margins, as maintenance is still ongoing at other complexes in Asia and the Middle East, the sources suggested.
Hydrocracker repairs are being made at the facility, which may take several weeks. Following this process, the refinery will return to its maximum capacity of 400,000 bpd they added. However, secondary units were said to be 100 percent operational.
Yasref, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) which produces 100 percent Arabian Heavy Crude, began operating at a full capacity in July.
