Saudi telecom regulator to issue unified licenses soon

12/10/2016 Argaam

The Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) is planning to issue the unified telecommunication licenses to authorized operators and information technology service providers soon.

Under the new licenses, operators will be able to provide fixed-and-mobile services, as well as internet services, the telecom regulator said in a statement on Wednesday.

The new licensing system will allow increased competition and subscriber options through enhancing network efficiency and cutting costs, it added.

Earlier this month, a government order was issued directing the CITC to provide operators with unified telecommunication license and extend their licensing periods by 15 years.
