Saudi Citizens Account supervisor resigns

11/06/2017 Argaam

Majed al-Osaimi, the general supervisor of Saudi Arabia's Citizens Account, has submitted his resignation to the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, said ministry spokesman Khalid Aba Al-Khail.

The program, however, is functioning normally and will not be affected by Al-Osaimi's resignation, Al-Khail added.

The Citizens Account, which launched on Feb. 1, was established by the Saudi government to provide financial assistance to families with low or medium income, and ease the impact of austerity measures.

Beneficiaries have been divided among three brackets: low income, middle income, and upper-middle income.
