The Saudi armed forces' purchases from local factories currently stand at 10 percent of total procurement, Major General Attiya al-Maliki, director of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Defense's local manufacturing support, told Argaam.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 reform program, launched last year to diversify the economy, aims to localize 50 percent of total government military spending in the Kingdom by 2030.

Al-Maliki added that the AFED defense exhibition, to be held on Feb. 25, 2018, will introduce more than 46,000 investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia for private sector companies.
