06/02/2018 Argaam

Al Rajhi Capital remained the top brokerage operating in Saudi Arabia in January for the fourteen straight month, data compiled by Argaam showed.

The firm accounted for 20 percent (SAR 32.82 billion) of total market transactions on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) last month.

Aljazira Capital came second place, accounting for 14.03 percent (SAR 23 billion) of total trading last month, followed by NCB Capital with 10.14 percent (SAR 16.62 billion).

The total turnover amount is double the value disclosed by Tadawul, as brokerage firms take commission from both sellers and buyers.

Meanwhile, the combined trading value of brokerage firms dropped by around SAR 11 billion month-on-month to SAR 163.93 billion in January.

On the Nomu Parallel Market, the number of brokerage firms operating remained unchanged at 23 in January.

Al Rajhi Capital topped the list of brokerages operating on Nomu in January, brokering up to 19.05 percent (SAR 11.60 million) of total transactions on the parallel market.

Meanwhile, the number of brokerages working on exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in January rose to 11 from 10 the previous month.

Falcom Financial Services was the leading firm for the month, accounting for 98.68 percent (SAR 165.1 million) of total trading.
