Prince Alwaleed donates SAR 2 mln to Al Hilal FC

Saudi Arabian billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal on Tuesday said he is donating SAR 2 million ($533,333) to support local football club, in response to a General Sports Authority (GCA) request.

 

“Answering my brother Turki al-Sheikh’s invitation to support Saudi clubs ... I present 2 million Saudi riyals to support Al Hilal FC,” Alwaleed tweeted.

 

Al-Sheikh is the GCA chief.

 

Al-Hilal Club also issued a statement confirming the SAR 2 million financial support.

 

Alwaleed was released from detention about two weeks ago, as part of the crackdown on corruption.
