Saudi Arabia extends bid deadline for wind plant to April 17

Saudi Arabia’s Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) has for the second time extended the bidding date for the Kingdom’s first wind project in Dumat Al-Jandal until April 17, MEED reported on Thursday, citing unnamed sources close to the matter.

 

The bidding process, which was originally set to close on January 25, 2018, has been pushed back to March 20.

 

In April 2017, 24 companies had been prequalified to take part in a wind project. The prequalification process, however, was after deciding to change the location of the site from Midyan to Dumat Al-Jandal.

 

The renewables office in August prequalified 25 companies for the 400 megawatt (MW) Dumat Al Jandal project in Al-Jouf.

 

The Dumat Al Jandal project marks the second of two tenders for round one of the Kingdom’s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), after the Solar PV project in Sakaka, Al Jouf region. It will be developed under the independent power project (IPP) model.

 

In February, REPDO awarded its first solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Sakaka to Riyadh-based ACWA Power, Argaam reported.
