Saudi Arabia’s Umm Al Qura Development and Construction Company has partnered with the Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) to open the first Taj hotel in the Kingdom, the two firms said in a joint statement.

The companies will develop the new Taj hotel as part of the King Abdul Aziz Road urban rejuvenation project. It is scheduled to open in January 2023.

The hotel, located within walking distance of the Grand Mosque (Masjid Al-Haram), will have approximately 340 keys, banqueting facilities and several restaurants.

The Saudi venture is IHCL’s fourth hotel in the MENA region. It manages Taj Dubai in the Burj Khalifa area and will open another two hotels in Dubai in the next 12 to 18 months.
