The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) will start implementing the first phase of the National Museum’s expansion project over the next two months.

Under the development project, which will be among the biggest and most modern projects worldwide, the National Museum will be modernized to include new services including galleries, theatres, restaurants and training rooms.

The latest interactive technologies will be installed in the museum and a four-star hotel will be built with the essence of Saudi heritage.

Prince Sultan bin Salman, SCTH Chairman, issued a decree to form a board of trustees of the National Museum in Riyadh in a bid to prepare for the museum’s transformation into an independent institution.

A committee will also be formed to review the master plans and projects of the museum.
