Car ads focus on Saudi women after driving ban lifted

This Sunday, Saudi Arabia turned a new page in its history when the decades-long ban on women driving was lifted officially.

 

As the clock ticked past midnight on Sunday, scores of women took to the streets in Riyadh, Jeddah, and other cities in the Kingdom, driving for the first time with newly issued licenses.

 

Ever since the landmark decision was announced last year, various car manufacturers and multinational corporations have welcomed the move, with advertisements geared towards Saudi women planning to get behind the wheel.

 

Argaam has compiled a list of some of the videos from carmakers below.

Other companies also joined the fold with ads celebrating the decree. Soft drink giant Coca Cola last year released a video of a Saudi father teaching his daughter to drive:
