Saudi energy ministry seeks to generate 160,000 mining jobs

The Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources is seeking to generate 160,000 jobs in the mining sector by 2030, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing Deputy Minister Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer.

 

The ministry’s 42-initiative strategy aims to restructure the mining sector and raise its contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) to $64 billion from $17 billion, he said.

 

Saudi Arabia has competitive advantages to be one of the world’s leading mining countries, as it has $1.3 trillion worth of mineral resources, he said on behalf of Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih, yesterday, in a forum held to explore investment opportunities in Sudan’s mining sector.
