Saudi Arabia plans to open a new consulate in the Indian state of Bengaluru, as the number of travelers between the two countries increase steadily, Economic Times reported, citing Saud Mohammed Al-Sati, the Kingdom’s ambassador to India.
“The number of travelers between Bengaluru and Saudi Arabia has been on the rise and the number of aspirants for a Saudi visa has doubled in recent years. Hence the Saudi government has decided to establish a consulate in Bengaluru,” Al-Sati said in a meeting with the state’s chief minister, HD Kumaraswamy.
An opening date for the Saudi consulate is yet to be announced, the report added.
