Ministerial committee mulls privatization of power stations, says SEC chairman

A ministerial committee headed by the Saudi Minister of Energy is currently studying the privatization of power stations, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing Saudi Electricity Co.’s (SEC) board chairman, Khaled Al Sultan.

 

The study is expected to be completed soon, he said, adding that the committee includes several entities, including the ministries of finance, economy and planning as well as the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

 

The committee is also responsible for restructuring the company as well as the sector in order to ensure its technical and financial sustainability.

 

Commenting on the solar panel and home electricity generating project, Al Sultan added that final policies are being set and the project will be launched soon.
