The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) launched an initiative to support and empower the beneficiaries of the insurance segment, it said in a statement.

The initiative will allow the coverage of the private health insurance to continue, in case the employer fails to fulfill the insurance premiums as of May 25, 2020 and until receiving further notice from the General Secretariat of the Council (GSC).

“CCHI launched several initiatives to support beneficiaries, health insurance firms, and health service providers, as part of the ongoing support in order to enable the segment to cope with the repercussions and effects of COVID-19,” Dr Shabab bin Saad Al-Ghamdi, CCHI secretary general, said.

He also indicated that the initiative to support insurance and claims management companies, as the financial consideration for the rehabilitation and renewal processes of these firms, has been postponed from April 1 to Sept. 30, 2020.

The financial consideration will be collected retroactively in Q1 2021, so that companies can fulfill their obligations towards the insurance parties, Al-Ghamdi clarified.

He pointed out that among those initiatives is to extend the accreditation of health service providers during the period from April 1 to June 30, 2020, without collecting the financial consideration, according to GSC conditions.
