Council of Economic Affairs reviews achievements of Vision 2030 in last five years

Saudi Arabia’s Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA), headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, reviewed the achievements made by the programs of realizing the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in the last five years.

 

These programs focused on establishing infrastructure, building institutional and legislative structures, develop general policies and empowering initiatives.

 

In the next phase, the Kingdom will focus on pushing development efforts forward, and further enhancing the participation of citizens and the private sector.

 

These achievements are divided into three sections, as follows:

 

First: Vibrant Society

 

The achievements included raising home ownership percentage to 60% from 47% five years ago. Moreover, home support is granted immediately today, compared to 15 years before the launch of Vision 2030.

 

The Kingdom also launched the tourist electronic visa that allows eligible citizens to travel to Saudi Arabia for purposes of tourism.

 

Second: Thriving Economy

 

Foreign direct investments (FDIs) surged 331% to SAR 17.625 billion, from SAR 5.321 billion before the Vision 2030 launch.

 

Several initiatives were introduced to enhance the society welfare, provide job opportunities and attract foreign investments, such as NEOM, Qiddiya, The Red Sea Project, etc.

 

Third: Ambitious Nation

 

Among several achievements, the Kingdom seized nearly SAR 247 billion in settlement of corruption cases over the last three years, which accounts for 20% of total non-oil revenue. Moreover, non-cash assets worth tens of billions of riyals were transferred to the Ministry of Finance.
