Saudi now has 53 governorates with access to 5G services: CITC

Saudi Arabia saw increased coverage of 5G network services during the first quarter of 2021, as the number of governorates that now have access to 5G services rose to 53, compared to 51 in Q4 2020, according to the report issued by The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) on internet speeds in the Kingdom (Meqyas).

 

stc and Mobile Telecommunication Company Saudi Arabia (Zain KSA) topped the list in terms of 5G services coverage in the Kingdom. The two telcos provided 5G coverage in 43 governorates, while Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily) provided 5G services in 21 governorates.
 

Zain KSA recorded the highest average 5G internet download speed of 350.47 Mbps, followed by stc with an average of 348.33 Mbps. Mobily came third with an average download speed of 231.83 Mbps.
 

Meanwhile, Zain KSA came in the first place in terms of the performance of spreading 5G services across the Kingdom, except for Makkah in which Mobily recorded the highest performance in Q1 2021.
