The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) announced that the Digital Content Council will launch 36 initiatives at SAR 4.2 billion to develop the digital content in the Kingdom, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The council will focus on expanding the local content, in addition to providing job opportunities in four main industries, namely, video and audio systems, e-games and digital marketing.

The new council aims to boost the government retained revenue and help the talented candidates via qualifying programs, in addition to improving legislations to stimulate the market growth.

The new council will organize the digital content market in the Kingdom through three channels, which includes boosting the private sector contribution in the market, laying out integrated governance structure, and developing the required infrastructure.

The newly-approved council will further attract new investments into the digital content industry.

The Saudi Cabinet approved, on Sept. 28, the regulation of Digital Content Council, and the cancellation of the National Committee for the Regulation of Ethical Content and Information Technology, data compiled by Argaam showed.
