Tasnee’s subsidiary to co-build SAR 1.4 bln superabsorbent polymer plant

The Saudi Acrylic Acid Company (SAAC), subsidiary of National Industrialization Company (Tasnee) and Sahara Petrochemicals, a partnership agreement with German Evonik Industries to build a plant expected to produce 80,000 metric tons of superabsorbent polymers (SAP) annually.

The joint venture will be 75 percent owned by SAAC and 25 percent by Evonik Industries.

Commercial production is expected in the fourth quarter of 2013, and its initial cost is SAR 1.4 billion.
