GASCO fined for Jeddah gas shortage, to rehire laid-off staff

Saudi Arabia’s ministry of labor ​said that it has ​fined​ the​ National Gas and Industrial Co. (GASCO) after the company’s administration was proven to be behind the recent gas supply shortage in Jeddah, the kingdom’s second largest city.

 

The bourse-listed company is obliged to rehire its laid-off employees​ ​​who were wrongfully blamed for the shortage.

 

GASCO will also be forced to settle the employees’ full payments, Abdel Moneim Al Shehri, director of labor office, was quoted as saying in Makkah newspaper.

The company recently doubled the number of gas tank trucks to Jeddah to 65 from 35.
