Sipchem affiliate starts initial operations at PBT plant

Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) said that its affiliate, Sipchem International Company, started on Monday initial operations of some process units ​at its Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) plant, Sipchem said in a statement to Tadawul.

 

The PBT project, with a capacity of 63,000 tons per year, is the first of its kind in the region and is set to be commissioned in April. The company said it will announce the exact start-up date and financial impact of the project ​when its ready.

 

​Sipchem uses Butandiol supplied by Sipchem’s affiliate International Diol Company (IDC) 
as feedstock to produce PBT, which is used in automotive industry, electrical material production, as well as the production of IT based materials used in the field of polymers manufacturing and plastics engineering.
