Saudi banks' investments in Treasury bonds rose SAR 70 billion during the first half of 2016, figures released by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) showed.
Treasury bond investments increased by SAR 3.1 billion month-on-month to SAR 156.6 billion in June, according to data compiled by Argaam.
Saudi Arabia is expected to continue selling bonds over the next few months to help shrink the country’s budget deficit.
Assets held by SAMA, the country’s central bank, fell SAR 42 billion during June, SAMA said.
