Saudia’s Flyadeal to begin services on Sept. 23, says Al Jasser

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) will launch services on its new low-cost carrier, Flyadeal, on Sept. 23, the kingdom’s National Day, after completing the second round of licenses are issued, Saudia’s Director General, Saleh Al Jasser, told Al-Arabiya TV on Tuesday.

 

He said the service will be launched with six aircraft, but expected the airline to fly 50 planes by 2020.

 

The Jeddah-based budget carrier will start domestic flights to Riyadh, Jazan and Abha, with plans for gradual expansion to other destinations.

 

Saudia announced the setting up the low-cost carrier in April 2016. It was expected to break even within two or three years.
