Saudi border guards have thwarted a terrorist attempt to blow up state-owned Saudi Aramco’s oil products distribution terminal in Jazan, using a booby-trapped boat, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing an interior ministry spokesman.

Saudi forces were monitoring the boat, which left Yemeni waters and began accelerating as it entered Saudi territorial waters, it was reported.

The boat was filled with explosives and did not have anybody on board, the spokesman said, adding that Saudi border guards opened fire on its engines and disabled it.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries in the attack.
