Sipchem’s Wahaj, Lockheed Martin ink deal for Paveway II Plus kits

28/02/2018 Argaam

Saudi Specialized Products Co. (Wahaj), which is 75 percent owned by Saudi International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem), signed an agreement with Lockheed Martin to manufacture mechanical kits for the latter’s Paveway II Plus laser guided bombs, Sipchem said in a statement on Wednesday.

No further details were disclosed about the deal value.

The agreement will contribute to transferring this advanced technology to the Kingdom, as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to localize military industries under the Vision 2030, Sipchem added.

The Paveway II Plus laser guided bombs integrate an advanced guidance system to convert conventional gravity bombs into precision guided munitions.

Last October, the Riyadh-based Wahaj completed manufacturing 18 Hawk jet platforms for the first time in Saudi Arabia, Argaam reported.
