MEPCO says anti-dumping duties imposed on paper imports from Spain, Poland

To combat harmful practices in international trade, the GCC’s technical secretariat has decided to impose anti-dumping duties on imports of uncoated paper and paperboard (kraft liner or fluting or test liner) in rolls or sheets from Spain and Poland, Middle East Paper Co. (MEPCO) said in a bourse statement.

New duties will come into effect from May 1, 2019 as a percentage between 24.6 percent and 31 percent for CIF imports from Spain.

In addition, anti-dumping fees of 34 percent will be imposed on CIF imports from Poland.

“It is difficult to estimate the related financial impact of the new duties, in light of the current market conditions,” MEPCO added on Monday.
