Arabian Centres Co. (ACC) launched three new cineplexes at its shopping centers in August, it said in a bourse statement on Sunday.

The first cinema theatre, opened on Aug. 24, in Jubail Mall is the debut cineplex being opened in the city ever. The 1,742 square meters (sqm) complex includes five screens with 440 seats.

The second one opened at Ahsa Mall in Al Hofuf on Aug. 26, and is the first ever cineplex in the entire Al Ahsa Governorate. The 2,865 sqm complex includes eight screens with 910 seats.

The third cinema theater was opened, on Aug. 28, at Haifa Mall in Jeddah and is the second cineplex within the company’s portfolio in the city. The 2,452 sqm cinema complex includes nine screens with 830 seats.

The company indicated that all the three cinema theaters will be currently running at 50% capacity as adhering to ACC’s health and safety measures.

These launches mark the fifth, sixth and seventh cinemas introduced at ACC’s locations, respectively, after the first four launches at Mall of Arabia Jeddah, Hamra Mall Riyadh, Nakheel Mall Dammam, and U-Walk Riyadh.

The company expects to launch an additional 13 cinema complexes across its portfolio over the current and coming year through to August 2021, further strengthening its position as go-to destinations for leisure and entertainment.

“The comprehensive rollout of cineplexes across our portfolio is part and parcel of our strategy to deliver a premier lifestyle experience to our millions of visitors,” ACC CEO Faisal Al Jedaie said.

He also added that the company pushed forward with its long-term growth strategies, since the management is cognizant of the short-term challenges posed by COVID-19.

“To that end, our priority remains protecting the health and safety of our communities, and thus will continue to implement enhanced safety and social distancing measures across our lifestyle centers and newly launched cineplexes,” Al Jedaie stated.
