CITC extends Etihad Atheeb’s network deployment period for 6 months

Etihad Atheeb Telecommunication Co. (GO) obtained the approval of the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) to extend the commitment period to deploy the network for additional six months, according to a bourse filing.

 

The telecom operator will have only until Q2 2022 to deploy the network as per the CITC license for the 3.5 GHz spectrum band.

 

The telco is currently studying all options to fulfill its obligations and avoid penalties. GO considers the period extension as a positive step to continue the pursuit of the company’s strategic transformation, which will help launch new services and improve quality.
