Saudi Cement to stop 3 clinker production lines; output drop worth SAR 35 million

18/03/2014 Argaam

Saudi Cement Company decided on March 17 to stop three clinker production lines in its Hofuf plant, reducing capacity by 1,325 tons of clinker a day because of their outdated technology, high operation cost and environmental impact, the company said in a statement to the Saudi Stock Exchange.

The drop in output, worth SAR 35 million in inventory value, will be reflected in the companys financial statement by the end of 2014.

The company re-operated on Dec 12, 2012 the three lines because of rising demand for cement in the market back then.

The company plans to operate two new production lines with a daily capacity of 3,000 tons in the third quarter of this year, according to Argaam information
