SaudiGulf Airlines gets nod to launch domestic flights in 2016

06/01/2016 Argaam

The Dammam-based SaudiGulf Airlines has received approval to launch flights in Saudi Arabia this year, the kingdom’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said in a statement.

The statement made no mention of Qatar Airlines’ Al Maha Airways, which was meant to start operations in Saudi Arabia in 2016 after it faced continuous delays over the last few years.

Al Maha and Abdel Hadi al-Qahtani Co.’s SaudiGulf had been selected in 2012 as part of a government move to boost competition within the Saudi domestic market, according to data available on Argaam.
